Traveling Oral Surgeon Comes Home
We hope you enjoy learning more about the newest addition to our group, Justin M. Pisano, DDS, dedicated oral surgeon, expert in TMJ surgery, musician and traveler. Recently returned from a fellowship in Australia, he’s happy to be back home in Michigan.
Why oral surgery? The face, mouth and jaws are very complex and diseases in this area really affect quality of life. I enjoy helping patients who need our expertise.
Favorite vacation spot: Fiordland National Park in New Zealand is my favorite place. The fiords are unforgettable. The mountains meet water that dives down to 400 meters deep. My wife, Kim, and I went kayaking and we caught and later ate fresh fish and lobster. We saw dolphins, whales, penguins, seals and rare birds. At night, the stars were spectacular.
Favorite hot spot in Grand Rapids: We’re still new to the area, but so far, we really like Butcher’s Union. The steaks are worth the wait times to get in.
Latest hobby: I’m getting back into playing guitar and drums, and am learning to play the harmonica.
Favorite TV show: Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Jerry Seinfeld. I love stand-up comedy and cars, and how Jerry matches the comedians to the car he picks for each show. It’s really funny, too!
Volunteer work: As part of the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy, I provided free dental extractions to patients with limited access to care. Now that I’m living in Michigan, I hope to participate in the Michigan Mission of Mercy Program.
Dr. Pisano grew up in Washtenaw County, Michigan. After completing his residency in Oklahoma and a fellowship in Australia, he came back to Michigan to practice oral and maxillofacial surgery. He joined the Center For Oral Surgery & Dental Implants in November 2019.
